all sizes quoted are approximate.
Most watercolour paintings look their best when a windowed mount is used, so when purchasing it is wise to make allowance for this, i.e. a painting of 30cm x 25cm might need a mount with a border all round of 5cm, making the mount and frame size 40cm x 35cm overall. In practice, choose the nearest frame size.

The old post mill, Walton-on-Naze, Essex. Circa 1900, Watercolour with Charcoal pencil highlighting. Approx. 30cm x 25cm. £75
Post mills were one of the early designs of windmill, sometimes with the post - a tall and very sturdy timber - exposed at the base. The whole top 'box' of the mill could be manually turned to suit the wind direction by means of the long inclined shaft. This mill, being a later one, has the timber trestle supports protected from the weather by a brick enclosure.

'Kilimanjaro'. Watercolour 16" x 12" (approx. 41 cm x 30 cm) £250
This oddly named cove forms just a small part of the wild and wonderful coastline that fringes the North York Moors national park. The painting is - for me - an unusual mix of dry and wet charcoal and dry and wet pastel colour. It is approximately 10" x 12" and is on Strathmore tinted mixed media card. It has been sealed to limit shedding and is also protected for transit by Glassine sheet. £140
'AUTUMN' Watercolour/gouache. Approx 40 cm x 30 cm (A3). One of those rare mornings when the English countryside transforms into a blaze of Autumn colour. Shafts of sunlight stream through the rapidly thinning leaves. A few small birds wheel and rise in the chilly air above the morning mist. Some trees are bare, others still cling to their reddened canopies. The ground is thickly carpeted in red, gold and sparkles of light. September's sorrow is a visual delight. £180
Low Tide, Scarborough Harbour

This painting is available ready mounted and elegantly framed (for collection ONLY) £250
Winter at Eilean Donan castle, Wester Ross
This Scottish castle is situated on a sea loch on the rugged west coast and is a much photographed venue for events. It has a complicated history and the castle we see now was rebuilt in the 20th century. An alterntive watercolour of the same scene can be seen being painted in a video on this site. Mountain Landscape
Coastal solitude, towering mountains and sea air. This watercolour is a memory of many times past. Alone with my thoughts, only the occasional seabird for company, nature at its simplest and purest. £180

'Late Autumn morning in the Garden of England'
Kent has long been known as 'The garden of England', an especially apt title from such a fertile land: especially famous for the growing of hops, which are dried in the 'oast houses', the conical topped towers seen on the left. The landscape was immortalised by the late Rowland Hilder, another of my personal favourite artists. This painting is a watercolour measuring 30 cm x 45 cm. £220
'Isle of Mull'
The Isle of Mull or simply Mull is the second-largest island of the Inner Hebrides (after Skye) and lies off the west coast of Scotland.
Is it too simplistically poetic to think that, in the twilight days of their lives, the spirits of these crumbling old carvel-built wooden boats might be sleeping and dreaming of halcyon days long past?
This is a colour pencil painting, A3 (40cm x 28cm) in size. Painted with Derwent and Luminance colours, on Bristol Board. £190
