'FLOWER CHILD' a (slightly) mixed media painting in watercolour and watercolour pencil. Children pose problems for the artist. The answer is to work from photographs, as one does with pets and animals and as this painting was. It isn't a slavish copy, nor a tracing. I created this using my proportional dividers on grey-tinted Strathmore card. If you want to know how the dividers are used , take a look on the 'video' tab.

'Reverie'
The title derives from the Claude Debussy musical work of the same name and depicts a young woman with eyes closed, in a daydream - but of what? A holiday, times past, a friend, a lover? Time and loss? We can only guess.
This charcoal work is on Strathmore tinted multi-media card and measures 27 cm x 33 cm and would suit a 9.5" x 12.5" window mount, fitting a 30cm x 36 cm frame or close to that size. £70

'The Reader'
She reads...what? A love letter? A goodbye note? Perhaps a message fraught with possibilities, some promising, some troubling. We as intrigued lookers on cannot know and must only guess. Whatever the case, she keeps the message folded into the pages of the book she carries - perhaps a bible, perhaps a love story...

Study in Sanguine
Another pencil painting using few colours, mainly sanguine (red). Approx. 12" x 9", painted with Derwent drawing pencils and, in terms of technique, based quite closely upon an interesting sketch found on the internet, artist unknown. The original might have been a pastel painting. The board used was Strathmore toned tan mixed media.
